Cancellations, itinerary changes, and deposits

CELA Belize reserves the right to cancel, alter, reschedule, or amend any or all programs offered at any time. If CELA Belize cancels a trip prior to the beginning of that trip, CELA Belize will refund all tuition payments made by the applicant. If CELA Belize cancels a trip once it has begun, a portion of the applicant's total payments will be refunded.

The Application Fee and $500 Program Deposit are non-refundable. The trip cancellation date is determined by the date we receive written notice by email or mail indicating that you wish to cancel your planned program. Failure to disclose any relevant medical conditions on your application may result in a revocation of your acceptance and cancellation of your program by CELA Belize without a refund of your deposit.

Medical insurance requirement and responsibility for medical costs

You are responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred during the trip. Injuries do occur, and health insurance is mandatory for all participants. Participants and their parents or guardians are responsible for any and all medical costs incurred before, during, or after a CELA Belize trip regardless of the cause.

Liability waivers, releases, medical disclosures, and rules

Participants, and their parents or guardians, when participants are under 18, will be required to sign and comply with various rules, liability waivers, and releases to enroll in a CELA Belize program. Our trips may include airline flights, rafting, camping, interacting with elephants, traveling in remote areas, and other potentially dangerous activities. Neither CELA Belize nor its officers, directors, contractors, employees, agents, or staff can guarantee against injuries or accidents that may occur for whatever reason on any trip. Participants will not be permitted to travel with CELA Belize unless all required paperwork has been received by the deadline set by CELA Belize, even if tuition has been paid in part or in full. Participants may be dismissed from the program at their expense at any time for failing to truthfully complete all forms in the Waiver Forms Packet.

CELA Belize may share the information in this application with your current school and with the parents, guardians, or references you have listed in this application. CELA Belize may also discuss any medical information you have listed here with the parents or guardians listed in this application.

CELA Belize may add you to their email list to keep in touch about upcoming courses.

Passports and visas

All participants require a passport that is valid for six months from the END date of their program. You will be responsible for paying for and ensuring that you have the necessary passport, visa, and any other documents to enter Belize, which will depend on your country of residence and citizenship. You are responsible for bringing your passport to the airport with you at the start of your trip.

Expectations of participants

CELA Belize expects participants to be enthusiastic, cooperative, and appreciative of the opportunities afforded to them through our programs. CELA Belize reserves the right to remove any participant from any trip, at the participant's expense, if a participant uses illegal drugs, endangers themselves or others, commits any crime, is disruptive of or unwilling to participate in activities, endangers their safety or the safety of others, or consistently disregards staff instructions.

CELA Belize may rescind an offer of acceptance to any participant whose medical, legal, or academic situation changes from the time of their acceptance in a way that would negatively impact the participant's application. In such an instance, any deposit paid will not be refunded.

Contact with home institutions

CELA Belize may share the fact of your application, enrollment, or attendance with your current school or academic institution, including your name, choice of program, and program dates.

International travel costs

Participants will be responsible for paying for their own international airfare to travel to their CELA Belize program. This airfare is not included in tuition.
